Firefox OS Survey: Understanding user behavior

Conducting a user survey on behavior and perception of Firefox OS.
The aim was to understand how first time users of Firefox OS perceived the new operating system and how this perception evolved over a period of three weeks. We set out to identify differences between users who already had experience with smartphones and first time users who own a feature phone.
Approach

We captured the first experience of using the phone, then let participants use and explore it over three weeks. We compared how user behavior and perception changed during and after this period compared to users‘ initial perception.

Result

The general look and feel of the phone was perceived as being targeted at a young audience. We discovered that design changes could make the phone and the OS more attractive for 25+ year-old feature phone users willing to change.
